You probably had urge to record windows media player screen quiet often. Despite the fact that many people have migrated to the 3rd party media players, Windows media player is still the most frequently used media player. Personally, I’m not a big fan of Windows media player just because it has just too many unnecessary features. Depending on the version of Windows media player, you will find that the screenshots shown below look so much different from yours. Don’t worry, whatever version you have, you can record it in the same way I’m about to show you.

First thing you want to do is open liteCam. Unless you want to record only a certain part of the video, pause the video and move the Seek scroll bar all the way to the left to beginning of the video. Now Windows media player is paused at the point where you want to start recording.

Just like other recording, you have several recording options.

Just make sure you have selected “Record Video”.

You can record Windows Media Player video using “Record Screen” but it uses lossless codec that will result in a way much bigger video file size than the Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V3.

I will try a different recording area for this than YouTube video and MSN video recording. I don’t prefer this but just to show you how it can be done.

Click “Window” from Recording Mode. You can also select it by clicking the triangle beside the Select button.

Now you can click Slect button

You will notice that liteCam minimizes and your screen gets dimmed. Move around your mouse over the Windows movie player or any open programs. Window frames will be highlighted in pink and size of the recording area will be displayed.

Click the left button of your mouse. Then, the window frame you selected will be highlighted and coordinates will be displayed.

I set my Frame rate to 30 FPS from the drop-down list below Select button. You can get smoother recording result if your system can handle it.

Click the Record button to start recording. You will get this little warning message with Video and Audio information.

As soon as you hit OK button, you need to go back to Windows Media Player and click Play button as well. When you’re done, click Stop button.
